In the magical underworld of Victorian London, Tessa Gray has at last found safety with the Shadowhunters. But that safety proves fleeting when rogue forces in the Clave plot to see her protector, Charlotte, replaced as head of the Institute. If Charlotte loses her position, Tessa will be out on the street—and easy prey for the mysterious Magister, who wants to use Tessa’s powers for his own dark ends.
With the help of the handsome, self-destructive Will and the fiercely devoted Jem, Tessa discovers that the Magister’s war on the Shadowhunters is deeply personal. He blames them for a long-ago tragedy that shattered his life. To unravel the secrets of the past, the trio journeys from mist-shrouded Yorkshire to a manor house that holds untold horrors, from the slums of London to an enchanted ballroom where Tessa discovers that the truth of her parentage is more sinister than she had imagined. When they encounter a clockwork demon bearing a warning for Will, they realize that the Magister himself knows their every move—and that one of their own has betrayed them.
Tessa finds her heart drawn more and more to Jem, but her longing for Will, despite his dark moods, continues to unsettle her. But something is changing in Will—the wall he has built around himself is crumbling. Could finding the Magister free Will from his secrets and give Tessa the answers about who she is and what she was born to do?
As their dangerous search for the Magister and the truth leads the friends into peril, Tessa learns that when love and lies are mixed, they can corrupt even the purest heart.

From the beginning, Cassandra Clare has been undoubtedly my favourite author. It started out with the City of Bones, and she pulled me in with Clockwork Angel. Ever since I finished reading Clockwork Angel, I've been determined to read the next book, Clockwork Prince.
As usual, Cassie delivered as promised! The book was just as amazing, even better than the first book in the series! I couldn't stop reading it until I got to the end. Usually, the case for me is that I LOVE the first book, then the third, then the second. But I have to say that she's changed my ways. I enjoyed the second book so much that I could probably just read that for the rest of my life.
I found this plot more sinister and more on-the-edge-of-your-seat that the first book. There was way more action, and betrayal. There were also many surprised, and I was so thrilled. Because what is a book without surprises? There is one part about "someone" that I was really surprised about. I don't want to give away any spoilers to people who haven't read it yet (but you probably have, because what kind of person doesn't?)
Will fans, I'm sorry to say I'm not part of you, but I truly did warm up to him in this book. In Clockwork Angel, I just wished he would crawl away and die in a hole (Madagascar) like a giraffe, but I'm happy he didn't. He seemed almost broken in this book, and that made me go "Awww" for him at some parts. But remember: I WILL ALWAYS LOVE JEM. This book totally delivered on that aspect. I couldn't stop waiting for when Jem would show up. You just can't hate him. I tried, many times, throughout the book to find hatred for Will, but there was nada.
---------------------------------*SPOLIER ALERT*-------------------------------
I found myself feeling sorry for him, because he loves Tessa, and then she just doesn't return it.
But, because I am a true Jem fan, and I love him to death (not literally) I was really happy, screaming for joy at the outcome. I know, some people might be pissed, but I was really happy with what was happening. I can't wait for Clockwork Prince to come out September 2012. It's too far!!
I recommend this book to . . . to ANYONE who will read! I'm sure that you'll love it!
And if you don't, I'll hunt you down personally.
