Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins (#2 in Anna and the French Kiss)
Synopsis from: Shelfari.com
Published by: Dutton Juvenile
Budding designer Lola Nolan doesn't believe in fashion...she believes in costume. The more expressive the outfit--more sparkly, more fun, more wild--the better. But even though Lola's style is outragous, she's a devoted daughter and friend with some big plans for the future. And everything is pretty perfect (right down to her hot rocker boyfriend) until the dreaded Bell twins, Calliope and Cricket, return to the neighborhood.
When Cricket--a gifted inventor--steps out from his twin sister's shadow and back into Lola's life, she must finally reconcile lifetime of feelings for the boy next door.

Stephanie Perkins first book, Anna and the French Kiss, left me wanting to read more and more and more. I couldn't stop rereading the book over and over again. She spins these amazing love stories that make me cry and laugh at the same time. It was no different with her second book, Lola and the Boy Next Door. It was just as mesmerizing, heart-breaking, and amazing as her first book.
The book started off really well, and I liked all of the descriptions and details that were in the book. I felt like I was living with her, walking through the streets. I loved when Lola just "thought" to herself, or when it was in all caps, because those parts made me laugh. Of course, there were parts where I nearly cried, because I felt so bad for Lola, or Cricket.
I liked how Lola had to realize that Max wasn't the person for her. It was really interesting how she goes through all of this, trying to set her feelings apart, especially for Cricket, whom she doesn't want to have feelings for.
What can I say about Cricket? I can say that he is absolutely cute, and that if Lola doesn't want him, I do. He is super tall, and has a great style, which Lola repeats throughout the story. During the entire book, I kept waiting for those parts where Cricket was there, because I usually found them the most interesting. I don't want to give away any spoilers, but there was this one part near the beginning of the book that made me feel entirely bad for Cricket.
I recommend this book to anyone who read the first book and LOVED it. I also recommend it to others who haven't read it before, because they are absolutely amazing, that you can't miss them. They will change your perspective on romance novels.

I was absolutely surprised when I found out that Anna and Etienne were in this book too. When it settled in, I was delighted to see where they were, and how they were doing. I really liked that Perkins was able to bring them back into this book, because I loved them so much. Anna plays somewhat an important role in this book, and Etienne to some extent. It was interesting to hear what other's thought of them, especially Lola.

He asks her out, right in front of her boyfriend, Max. That part, I nearly died.
Throughout the book, Lola kept denying her feelings for Cricket, and I found that made me more frustrated. I almost wanted to yell, Just get with Cricket!, but I didn't, because in the end, it ended up right.
